We Saw Dolphins!!

To top off our great weekend, we saw some dolphins at the beach today. My picture taking skills are pretty bad, so really all you can see is fin.  At one point, one dolphin was only about 20 feet from us and scared the girls nearly to death. It was fishing for lunch, apparently. It was a pod of four going up and down the beach giving everyone on the beach a little added joy and excitment!!

see it there on the left? click to make the picture bigger and you will see it.

Homework Time

When it comes time to sit down and do homework Eliza is thrilled.   Last week she sat down and did her weeks worth of homework in about 15 minutes.  It is fun stuff like practicing writing her name and coloring shapes and such.  I wonder how she will feel about it next year when it is math and word problems.

Then there is little Miss Pey...............

Here is her homework, but where is she? She did three problems then threw her pencil and stormed off. She is so much like me when it comes to homework. She would much rather be doing something, anything, else.  After much coaxing and bribing she finally returned to the table and completed her work.  Her homework is not easy stuff! There is a contest going on in the school to raise money and one of the prizes is a night off from homework. Peyton is hoping she wins that prize over a Target gift cert! I hope she does too.

One More Thing to Add....

Our poor children witnessed three hooligans get arrested in Walmart yesterday. Seriously, they didn't need to see that. Not only for their sake, but also for ours. The next hour and a half was spent being asked questions and hearing comments like these over and over and over again:

Why are the police here?
Why are those boys in handcuffs?
What did they do?
Why did they steal?
I wonder what jail is like. (Eliza)
How long will they be in jail?
That one thinks its funny cause he is smiling.

What a way to end our fun Sunday!

What's Been Going On

1. A big black crow dropped a huge bomb on Kai's leg as we walked to our car from Target. That is good luck right?

2. Eliza sang "Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. You're 102. You smell like a monkey and you live in the zoo" to Poppop on his birthday!

3. Kai took 3 steps

4. A snake almost attacked the girls and me as we walked out of our apt. It was in the strike position and ready to pounce. My scream made it slither back to the bushes.

4. Andy ran 5 miles this am with Kai in the jogger!! I then got a call from him in desperate need of a pick up at the YMCA! When I got there he was working out and Kai was in the daycare! He could have totally ran/walked home.

5. Lulu peed on my side of the bed this morning while I was sleeping! UGGGG, what is wrong with her?

6. Peyton helped me cut Andy's hair and did a very good job.

7. A man was arrested from our apt complex for pulling a gun on his girlfriend!

8. An alligator swam by Lexi as she did her business along the pond bank.

9. Andy claimed he saw two bald eagles on a light post this morning on his run. I didn't believe him at all because I thought they only lived in the Pacific Northwest. I told him it must have been a huge hawk or vulture. He was 100% positive he had seen the eagles.  When we got home he looked on google and sure enough a pair of eagles have been living in Lakewood Ranch. Apparently, they favor that light post and areas around the golf course. It is nearly nesting season, so I really hope we are lucky enough to spot them again!

All these things happened in the last couple of days. There is never a dull moment that is for sure! I wish I had my camera for all these, but I just have a picture of Kai standing about to take his steps.

A Sort of Compliment From Eliza

So, I picked the girls up from school today and the first thing Eliza says to me is "mommy, you look beautiful as a diamond, even when you don't shower." Thanks, I guess. I proceed to tell her that I had, in fact, showered today and she just says, "oh nevermind then!" What????? Gee, thanks Eliza!
