Yeah, No Uniform Day and Kai's Easter Egg Hunt!

Eliza was so excited to have this handme down skirt from Peyton!

Kai had his first Easter egg hunt with playgroup and had as much fun as an 18 month could have. Unfortunately, my pictures didn't capture his smiles and excitement. He rarely looks at me when I pull out the camera these days.

Kai finally decided to climb through the tunnel.... alone!
I wonder how I will get down this bumpy slide?
Trying to get Kai and Gavin to pose.......didn't happen :(
sharing lunch
Ohhhhh, I found one! Let me open it and NOT put it in my basket!
This is fun! I found another one!

Tried A New Recipe

I have been trying to cook more nutritious meals lately. Here is a remake of one of my old favorites, turkey tetrazzini. This recipe included loads of veggies!!  Light cream cheese, chicken broth, and flour made up the creamy sauce instead of the usual cream of mushroom soup. Artichoke hearts were also included and gave  the dish a nice flavor.

                                                                         this will be interesting

good thing the kids are busy playing as this does not look very appealing
cheese makes everything taste better
the finished product

Andy and I enjoyed this meal more than the kids. They picked out the spinach and mushrooms, but at least they tried it! I probably won't make this dish again because it wasn't as delicious as it should have been for the price of the ingredients and the time it took to prepare. Mom, the turkey tetrazzini you made when we were kids was so much better :)

Out of the Dark Ages

Andy has finally bought me a blackberry! He had to get one for work and it was buy one get one free, so I got lucky. Yay! I am so happy to get rid of my ancient flip phone. I feel cool now and won't be ashamed to pull out my cell at playgroup and pretend to call someone. Bring on the texting! :)

Future Polo Players

We went to the Sarasota Polo Grounds in hopes of watching a match, but they were canceled due to the fields being too wet.  They were having a benefit for the animal sanctuary, so we got to see adorable dogs up for adoption and check out a few polo horses. The girls were lucky enough to sit on a beauty named Barbie!

It was a very breezy day
Barbie was not being very cooperative

Check Out My Shorts ZZ!!

This post is especially for Aunt ZZ! I was reprimanded for dressing Kai in shorts that were, apparently, out of fashion and too short and from Talbots no less. Lindsay, you will be very happy to see that Kai went shopping and his shorts are now very up to date!

Stitches!

Today we had our introduction to stitches! Kai fell and banged his forehead on the toy chest and it was bad enough to require 4 stitches! Hopefully, since he is so young the scar will be small! Lots of blood and crying, well screaming really, accompanied this incident. I knew from the moment I saw his cut that it was going to be sutured, so I wasn't surprised when the pediatrician sent us to the ER. I should have just gone there first. Anyway, they got him sutured up in no time and he is happy and playing like nothing happened.

Breakfast of Champions

Andy wanted me to tell everyone what he had for breakfast  in Guadalajara, Mexico this morning. He had a dish called Menudo. Various spices, chilies, cows stomach, beef feet, and tendons make up this delicious dish. It is an authentic Mexican dish that is supposed to cure hangovers by inducing sweating, thus releasing those nasty toxins. Andy said the broth was very tasty, but there was something off with the meat. He can usually eat anything, but had a hard time with this dish. The good news is he had McDonald's for lunch!

Eliza B is 6!

Eliza is 6! Sadly, my pictures did not come out and are all blurry. I must have had my camera on the wrong setting. She enjoyed her day and got some good loot! Thank you for thinking of her. The main disappointment was her cake. I feel really badly, so we will have a do over when Nonnie gets here. She wanted an elaborate cake and it just didn't work out, because I had been sick, so we bought one at Publix and she hated the taste and spit it out. Sorry Eliza! Here is a picture of Eliza in her new birthday suit!

Sick Girls!

After a fantastic vacation with the family, I was ready to unwind a bit while the girls went back to school. I love my children more than anything, but a break is needed now and again. I knew my Monday would be anything but relaxing when the girls started throwing up, within minutes of one another, on Sunday night. Andy dealt with Eliza and Peyton was with me. They threw up every 10 minutes, in unison, all night long!!  The poor things are not well and feel miserable. It is now Monday, at about noon, and they are still throwing up. I am hoping it is just  24 hour bug or maybe food poisoning. They both ate day old chocolate sticks from Pizza Hut last night. I hope our laundry machine can keep up with all the use. It is starting to sputter!

Like the array of towels and blankets? I am trying to protect my bed.

Who Spilled the Milk???

Of course, I was quick to blame the kids on the mess I found on the table. When I probed a little harder I found the guilty party!!

I didn't do it!

Family Fun on Captiva!

Thank you Poppop and Moo for such a memorable and fun week! Spending quality time with Dad, Mary, Lindsay, Brendan, Jackson, and Wyatt was so special. All the kiddies had a blast playing in the heated pool, even if the outside temp was in the low 60's. I will never forget Jackson arresting Peyton and Eliza and throwing them in the pantry. You might have a future policeman on your hands Linds! Delicious adult dinners followed by Olympic watching was the perfect way to end each day. The week went by way too fast and I miss the chaos of all the kids running around crazy and Wyatt sitting and watching! Lindsay and Mary took way more and better pictures, but here are some from my camera.
