The temperature gods finally decided to cool off North Texas, so we could open windows and go to the park without sweating and all smelling like garbage!
These two were most excited!
They sat by the open window all afternoon. There was no breeze in the backyard, so this is where they preferred to be.
We let the girls have some much needed and deserved freedom and ride their bikes to the park....alone. They were so excited they left without helmets or saying goodbye. They won't let that happen again. Andy was about 3 minutes behind them in the car and he spied. He decided he better go over the family rules one more time and then came home.
When Kai woke up from his nap, we headed back to the park. The girls were playing tag with other kids, well running from boys who had pretend guns and were shooting at them. Not cool!! We told them to play something else. At that point, Peyton went off with a friend from school and rode bikes and Eliza played with us and helped Kai on the slides.
I think it is time we loosen our tight reigns a bit. I tend to baby them a little too much, especially with Andy gone so much, and I think that has been having a negative effect on their attitudes and confidence. I will be working on treating them like the big 8 and 6 year olds that they are and expect the same respect in return. I just don't want them growing up too fast, but keeping them sheltered and home with me all the time won't do them an ounce of good. We will find a nice balance and make it work for all of us. We are very proud of them! We just need to get them a watch because if we hadn't shown up I think they would have come home way too late, like after dark late. We love you girls!
weeeeeeee
Yumm, drinking from the dog fountain. Awesome!
This totally freaks me out-the girls unsupervised-but I guess it is time. God help me when my boys want the same thing. Yikes! Luckily your kids are actually responsible...:)
