Can you tell what they are?
BUNNIES!
There are two adorable bunnies nestled in a burrow right in our backyard. I let the dogs out yesterday and saw something squealing in Lexi's mouth. I freaked out and called for Andy thinking Lexi had killed a bird or mouse. He went over and picked up the tiniest baby I have ever seen. It was still alive and well, with the exception of a small scratch on the ear. Andy found the burrow where another baby was and placed the scared one back in. Peyton thinks this is the best thing ever! She made signs by the back door warning people not to let the dogs out unless a grown up goes out too.We know momma bunny came last night because the nest was all neat and deeper this morning. I hope they make it cause this neighborhood sure could use more rabbits ;)
OMG! Same thing happened at our house! Lucy didn't want to hurt the poor bunny (well, all three of them), she just wanted to throw them in the air because they squeaked when she did so. We tried to find the home, but no such luck. I read online that the mother will make the nest in the open --- she really doesn't try to hide it, but we still couldn't find it. Fingers crossed she came back for them that night b/c we haven't seen them since. Heartbreaking. :( BUT... I'm so glad the Smith family saved the bunnies in Texas!
ReplyDeleteOh Dianne! Sadly the bunnies did not make it. We are so sad. I think we may have stressed them out too much ;( The mom came back every night and she will come tonight and they are gone. Silly rabbits, hide your babies better!! Hope youare all well in VA!
